Top Toys for Babies Learning to Walk

Teaching a small child how to walk can be a challenging and frustrating task for new parents. While it is a struggle for all babies and most learn to walk at different ages, if you want to help them along, you might consider one of the following two toys. There are many other available, but these two are favorites with many parents. Both have received really good reviews all over the Internet. If you want to help teach your child autonomy while they are learning to walk, both of these are really good ideas.

The Step 2 Walker Wagon with Blocks is a great wagon system that is pushed, not pulled. This can help a young child learn to walk by giving them something to support themselves with. In addition, the storage area makes a great place to clean up toys so they don't end up all over the house. The Walker Wagon is just the right size for toddlers learning to walk. Included is a set of 16 foam blocks that will give them something easy and safe to put into the wagon so they can walk around. The wagon was designed with extra stability in mind. A child playing with this wagon can have fun and learn to walk - on their own - at the same time.

The Step Start Walk-N'-Ride is another wonderful toy to help a young child learning to walk. It was specially designed to teach two unique coordination skills. For one, there's the walking. As with the wagon, this gives your small child support so they can walk around on their own. When they're tired, they can "hop in" and ride around, improving their hand and eye coordination. At a great price and built with safety in mind, this is a great toy for babies learning how to walk.

There are many other push and pull toys out there designed to teach your child to walk. The biggest feature you should be after is stability and safety. When it comes to price vs safety, your child's safety should win. There are plenty of other toys out there to help teach toddlers how to walk, but these two are ones they will love while you're able to have peace of mind. Built with safety in mind, these "walking helpers" for children are bright, colorful, well designed, and loads of fun for babies wanting to walk on their own. That said, it is very important to always supervise your small child when they're using the walker. With more mobility, they may be able to reach a hot stove or other danger in your home. Watch your kids when they're learning to walk, especially with a walker.

5 Best Toys for Babies

Looking for ideas on what kinds of toys would be suitable for your baby? Read on for recommendations on the five best toys for babies, and how each contributes to your baby's development.

1. Baby Books

Suitable for babies 3 months and above, baby books are excellent for exposing your child to reading from an early age. Books that are appropriate for babies include those with soft textures and colorful images as well as big board books that teach baby the alphabet or numbers in an appealing way.

To get the most out baby books, read them to your child in an animated way. You can encourage your baby to focus on the words by pointing to each word as you say it aloud. The interaction with your baby helps develop his or her sense of touch and improve hand-eye coordination. When you read aloud to your child, your baby's brain will also learn to relate the words he or she hears to the pictures they represent.

2. Blocks of Different Shapes, Colors and Sizes

Baby blocks in various shapes, colors and sizes are very good for developing your baby's hand-eye coordination and teaching your baby to build, sort and stack. You can also use these blocks to teach your baby the concept of shapes, colors and numbers. For example, you can mix the blocks up and ask your child to find you two red square blocks, or three blue rectangular blocks.

3. Stackable Rings

Stackable rings are the perfect toy to help develop your baby's hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills. You can also use stackable rings to teach your baby about sizes and colors.

4. Toy Instruments

Most children love music, and introducing your baby to toy instruments will expose him or her to music and rhythm at an early age. You can give your child a toy guitar to strum or a toy piano or xylophone to bang on. Babies who are older will also enjoy rhythmic instruments such as maracas.

5. Rattles

Rattles can be made from wood, cloth or plastic. Brightly colored rattles that make sounds when shaken will appeal to most babies. Rattles are excellent for stimulating your baby's eyes, ears and brain. They can help hone your baby's tracking ability and provide them with many hours of fun. Some rattles can also double up as teethers provided they have textured surfaces that are easy on your baby's gums.

Toys For Babies - Baby Play Mats and Education For Young Children

Is is my imagination, or these days does everyone want their child to be the brightest in the local community? People pay out all kinds of money on high tech tools created by manufacturers which claim they will make your son or daughter extremely smart and bright. This certainly sounds like a good idea. Then again, you might have mothers and fathers complaining because their youngsters are growing up too quickly. Our society can be incredibly baffling - do we want our little ones to savor their childhoods or become more intelligent from an earlier age - or is it possible to have both?

Even infant playthings are being aimed at mind stimulation. Baby toys are produced in very colorful designs to start early education. There are baby toys that speak different languages.. Should our kids at least learn their own mother tongue language first before having toys that speak multiple languages? Whatever happened to baby toys that allow babies to just be babies? A few of my favorite toys for babies are simple ones which shake and move - allowing them to giggle at as well as learn about how to make simple noises and move things about in their environment.

When my daughter was little, I was more interested on making sure that my daughter relished being a young child. Her infant playthings were adorable, soft and cuddly, vibrant as well as loud. I was not displaying flash cards from the age of 6 months or teaching her how to do simple math. I was, in fact, rolling around on the ground with her on her play mats, teaching her by pointing out pretty shapes, animals and colors. Her baby toys encouraged her to enjoy being a baby.

One of the best things that I actually purchased for her was not really a baby toy in a sense, but a video. She loved the Baby Einstein video tutorials. The background music and colors held her fascinated for the entire length of the video. While I cannot say for certain that her mind had been stimulated and she learned anything specific, I can say that it certainly wasn't harmful to her.

For very young children, in my opinion you really can't go wrong with purchasing baby play mats either. Baby will happily lie on his or her front for a period of 'tummy time" and gaining strength within their core stomach muscles, which is an essential physical development exercise they all require, or on their backs more focused on having fun learning colors and sounds. No matter what toy your baby or young child is using every day, their brains are no doubt being stimulated.

Perhaps we should not be quite so focused on creating infant geniuses or prodigies. We should instead be focusing on bringing up healthy, contented as well as naturally smart children. There is no real need to be pushing for anything more than that basic concept.

Sensory Toys for Babies

From a newborn to 1 year old a baby's senses develop at an astonishing rate. Their vision starts blurry but they begin to see clearer and can recognise some familiar faces at about 1 month old. Sensory toys for babies can be used by parents to further improve their baby's development. This article looks at specific toys for baby development and why sensory toys are important.

When a baby is born they are only able to focus on objects close to their face (about 12 inches away). They can distinguish between light and dark but not between certain colours. Babies begin to develop their full colour vision at about 3-4 months old. As a parent you can use sensory toys to help improve your baby's vision and possibly speed up the development process.

As your baby develops he or she will be drawn to faces, particularly yours. Show your baby large pictures of faces as this will help them focus and identify the different shapes that make up the facial form. You can also use your own face to help your baby's development by illustrating happy or sad and allowing your baby to not only see your facial expression but touch your face and actually feel it. When your baby starts to smile and make their own facial expressions use a mirror so they can see themselves. Babies are fascinated by their own reflection and something as simple as a mirror could entertain your baby for hours.

As your baby won't be able to differentiate between all colour hues the best sensory toys are those that have high contrast colours and patterns. For your baby, toys which are black, white and red are easily visible. The contrasting colours help your baby notice different patterns and shapes and aid their visual development.

Your baby's hearing will have matured fully by 1 month old even though they won't be able to appreciate and completely understand all they are hearing. From their ears babies absorb huge amounts of information. All this information will stimulate your baby's brain development which will help them with sitting, crawling and walking.

To help improve your baby's hearing you can start with reading. Try varying the pitch of your voice as it will help your baby recognise different tones of sound. You could also try using accents and singing to further develop your baby's hearing. Musical sensory toys such as rattles are great for babies as they can make sounds on their own. They will start to notice cause and effect; that actions can lead to outcomes.

All babies are naturally inquisitive about the world around them. They want to experience things by touch. To improve your baby's touch sensitivity try rubbing a variety of textiles on your baby's skin while describing the sensation as you go e.g. soft, fluffy or silky. Activity gyms with hanging parts will help develop your baby's hand-eye co-ordination. As they reach for one of the hanging elements and make contact they will gain more confidence.

Your baby's hearing, sight and understanding of language will develop much quicker than their motor skills. By using baby signing toys your baby can communicate with you before they can verbally speak. This communication and bond is a great comfort to parents.

There are a variety of sensory toys for babies that will help improve the development of your baby's senses. From high contrast colourful toys to rattles and baby signing toys, there are sensory toys to suit every parent and child.

If you are looking for sensory toys for babies there are a number of companies that offer a range of products. Bamba Sign have a variety of soft, high quality educational toys for babies that will help you learn baby sign at home, enabling you to improve your baby's communication skills in a fun way.

Educational Toys for Babies - 1 Year Old

Every parent wants the same thing; for their child to grow up happy. It is not uncommon for caring parents to stress over their baby's educational development. The 6 months leading up to their 1st birthday is a crucial time as babies become much more communicative and mobile. This article focuses on educational toys for babies 1 year old and why they are important for your child's development.

A ball can be just a simple play thing for the park or garden, but when a baby is learning to walk, stand or crawl it becomes an important educational toy for strengthening your baby's leg muscles. Firstly you should sit on the floor holding your baby facing away from you. Put a ball in front of their feet and encourage them to kick it. You can help by moving their legs if your baby can't do it unassisted. Give praise each time they make contact and this will give them confidence. With another parent and baby playmate you can have them kicking the ball to each other. They will both improve their gross motor co-ordination skills whilst having a lot of fun.

As your baby becomes a 1 year old they will begin to babble word-like sounds. To help improve your baby's verbal and hearing skills you can use felt to create animated stories. You can buy ready-made shapes from educational toy shops or make your own. Face your baby and tell a simple story using the shapes to illustrate. Speak clearly and point to the pieces as you talk about them, don't worry about making the story complicated just keep it animated.

Babies love to put items into categories, particularly at about 9 months. A shape sorter is an educational toy that will help to develop your baby's fine motor skills. Although a shop bought toy may be fun to begin with, the novelty will soon wear off. It is easy to make your own shape sorter at home instead, for very little cost. Provide your baby with different objects or food cut in small pieces and small containers to put them in. Encourage your baby to sort the items by colour or shape.

A rattle can help develop your baby's fine motor skills and sense of rhythm. Any toy that is musical can be entertaining, even ones you have made at home with pasta and a plastic bottle. Add variety with colours and different sounds to ensure that your baby doesn't get bored. It may give you a headache but your baby will love it.

Babies begin to understand language and develop motor skills before they can actually speak. Baby signing toys can be used to help improve your baby's communication skills. Signs are attached to words and this enables you to better understand what your child wants. Some people think that baby signing will negatively affect their baby's speech development; however it actually enhances their vocabulary and language skills.

The range of educational toys for babies 1 year old is extremely vast. There are products to suit every parent and baby, whether it is a ball, a homemade rattle or baby signing toys. When choosing a particular toy think about the skills that your baby will develop and try to target all the senses over time.

There are a vast number of retail companies where you can get educational toys for babies. Bamba Sign have a variety of high quality soft toys that will help you learn baby sign at home. This is a fun way of improving your baby's communication skills.

Educational Toys for Babies - 0-6 Months

As a parent it is natural to want the best for your children. You want them to grow up to be well rounded happy adults. Educational development is something that all parents are concerned about from the moment their child is born. This article focuses on educational toys for babies 0-6 months old and why they are important for your child's development.

When a baby is born their vision is limited, they will be able to differentiate between light and dark but they will not see all colours. At about 3-4 months old babies start to distinguish between colour hues as their full colour vision develops. Newborns are able to see things directly in front of them but struggle to focus on anything further than about 12 inches away. Using finger puppets can help to develop your baby's vision.

To perform this exercise position your baby either lying down or in a reclining seat so that they can see your face. Put a finger puppet on each index finger and slowly move them into your baby's line of sight. Wait until they have focused their eyes on the finger puppets before carrying out a conversation between the puppets and your baby. Pause after each question as if your baby was responding. These educational toys not only improve your baby's vision but also help their interactivity skills as they are included in the conversation.

Naturally babies are inquisitive and they want to experience the things they can see by touching them. Try rubbing different textures on your baby's skin as this will help their touch sensitivity. Activity gyms are brilliant educational toys for babies aged 0-6 months. They can improve the hand eye co-ordination of your baby as the hanging parts will move as they are touched. Reaching for something and making contact will give your baby confidence.

Newborns don't respond positively to loud noises but as they grow they begin to appreciate surprise sounds. To help develop your baby's hearing you can encourage them to play with toys that are musical. This not only improves hearing skills but is educational; their sense of cause and effect is developed when your baby makes connections between hearing a sound and seeing what made it happen.

It is easy to transform household objects into educational toys for your baby. A simple hiding game can help your baby understand "object permanence"; knowing that something is still there even if you can't see it anymore. In front of your baby put a favourite toy in a number of containers just like Russian dolls, and then ask your baby where their toy is. As you take off a layer repeat your question until you reach the toy.

Babies develop motor skills and their understanding of language much quicker than their ability to verbally speak. Baby signing toys are a great way of communicating with your child. Some parents are worried that baby signing will slow speech development but in actual fact it can improve language and vocabulary.

There are a variety of educational toys for babies 0-6 months old that will help improve the development of your baby's senses. From finger puppets to activity gyms and baby signing toys, there is something for every parent and child.

If you are looking for educational toys for babies there are a number of companies that offer a range of products. Bamba Sign have a variety of soft, high quality toys that will help you learn baby sign at home, enabling you to improve your baby's communication skills in a fun way.

Basic Guide To Choosing Toys For Babies

A baby's only activities until the age of two months are sleeping and eating. He is not interested in anything else. After two months, the baby starts being more curious about the world around him. At first, he just watches the activity in the room. At the age of 4-5 months, he is already moving his arms and legs with a lot of energy.

At this point, as a parent you should stimulate the baby to continue this rhythm. The best way to do this is through play. And since play is unconceivable without toys, you should consider getting some for your baby.

Researches made in the last few years revealed that babies too can have an assortment of toys. Babies respond to sight, sound and touch. Toys that stimulate these senses can help your baby learn about the world around him, how things work and so on.

To help you find best baby toys, I've made here two age groups, birth to 6 months and 6 to 12 months. The difference between these age groups is huge because a baby grows very fast and so his needs differ from month to month.

Toys for babies of one to six months:

In this period, a baby isn't very active. He is mostly sleeping. When the baby is awake, he does not seem to be interested in anything else but eating and crying.

At the age of two months, the baby starts following every activity in the room. He is able to focus his vision on an object for a few moments. This is when you must introduce the baby in the world of toys, if you haven't already done so. Use black and white and high contrasting color toys. The baby can't play at this age because he can't make complex moves like grabbing, or turning around.

At the age of four months, the baby is already moving his arms and legs. He has more energy than ever, and he is eager to use it. He is able to grab things and crawl. In this situation, a new activity is making room in his life: play. Although it is very rudimentary, play is very important for the baby's development.

Here are some toys I recommend you to buy for your baby:

Juggling toys
Animal shaped toys made of rubber
Little mirrors that can't injure the baby
Toys made specially for chewing
Little colored circles bound together
Musical toys
Be a bit more careful with musical toys. Buy musical toys for your baby only after you have checked that the sounds they produce aren't very powerful. Musical toys that produce sharp noises are dangerous because babies tend to get the sound source close to their ear, which, being fragile can be affected.
